Well, it’s coming close to the next trip to wine country…let’s see who
is out there and opinions to chime in!
I have been to Napa and Sonoma more times than I can remember. Been through
the Santa Cruz foothills many times and finally did Paso Robles down to
Santa Barbara last year. Italy once, but so good a trip.
Let’s see what others think out there.. I am staying with a friend in Santa
Rosa (Sonoma Valley) and most of the wineries will be there (prevent a
drunken drive on the Oakville Grade, although that can be entertaining…for
others).
What will we be doing? Domain Carneros (club member, free wine and great
treatment makes it a must), Audelsa (Glen Ellyn, awesome cab and merlot),
Enkidu (Kenwood, very new and good), WoodenHead (southwest of Santa Rosa,
diamond of a find), Artiste (Healdsburg, club member and Bion rocks),
Thumprint (Healdsburg, Starr is awesome ... (more)
Ok, last weekend was so long ago, but, I still have to type this up..if only
to remind myself where I’d rather be.
I was in Sonoma last weekend with a friend, simply to go to some wineries I
love and discover some new ones. We stayed in Santa Rosa, a first for me as I
prefer the square in Sonoma, but, this really changed my mind.
First off, we discovered (much to my lack of research), that there was a
barrel tasting event going on in the Russian River Valley and most of the
wineries I was either a club member of or that we wanted to go to, were all
part of it….meaning it’s cheape... (more)
Well, since I live in the clouds (American Airlines seat “x”) and work in
the clouds (Cloud computing/cloud storage, etc), it’s about time that I
finally join the blogosphere cloud and post.
Those that know me, know that I am seldom short for words, here, they can
stop listening whenever they want, a blessing I am sure (the operative
assumption that it is being read at all).
Thanks to Tommy T. and that bloody Twix commercial, I am now “published”.
Hopefully I will be able to post something that has some “merit” and this
will more than likely just be an avenue for me to preview my ... (more)
I posted this a while back, but, caused some flack as to much leaked out at
the time..so, pulled it 5 minutes later. Here it is again, bigger and better.
With all the advances in systems, applications, connectivity, you see a
plethora of posts out there about how storage has not kept pace. In defense,
storage has kept pace, but in a different fashion than applications, systems,
or the connectivity. Storage has focused on getting more into a smaller
space, while that is good at first blush, it does not address the fact that
you need more and more performance out of what you just ma... (more)
After listening to the Wikibon discussion on FCoE yesterday, it really
spurred me to piece together a number of things that have been posted as of
late relating to storage access and the economies of storage.
I have been in the storage business for longer than I care to discuss, but,
it has always revolved around the economies ($ per something, that something
usually being capacity), with the economies of reality trailing the actual
sale…and subsequently requiring further purchases (or in the cae of a
generous vendor, free stuff….that usually doesn’t happen unless it’s
t-shirts,... (more)
